    • Combination of online and face-to-face
  • Web-based (WBT)
    • Web based training is anytime anywhere instruction delivered over the internet or corporate intranet to clients having browsers.
  • Computer-based (CD-ROM) CBT
    • Instruction is provided using computer programs.
    • E-learning typically takes place in a virtual classroom
  • Synchronous

Chat, video Conferencing, Teleconferencing

  • Asynchronous

E.g. Email, discussion groups web blogs and forums

Advantages :-

1. Flexibility &Convenience

Students from any location can participate in the e-learning program.

They can learn at their own pace and they not have to physically remain present in a classroom.

2. E-classes are asynchronous

Allows learners to participate and complete course work in accordance with their daily commitments.

3. Cost &Time benefit

No cost of commuting to and from the campus, less expensive

4. Audiovisual medium –

More variety in the learning experience. Because of multimedia

5. Faster

E-learning courses progress faster than the traditional courses.

This is because individualized learning approach allows students to skip material they already know and move ahead.

6. Consistent

Training material is consistent while in traditional courses different teachers may teach slightly different material on the same subject.

Disadvantages :-

1. Lack of face to face interaction

2. Isolation –Students may experience isolation during distance learning.

3. Group collaboration may be slow
